2022 EVENT STATUS

It is with a very heart that we announce the 2022 Mill 5k will not occur this spring. It has nothing to do with COVID and is NOT a permanent cancelation. It simply comes down to the lack of time needed to properly prepare for the event.

First and foremost, this event was solely created as a fundraiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. It has always been at the core of who we are. We have raised over $80,000 in our brief five year history. We have never taken money as race directories. Nor have Sicily or Matty Begs as our musical performers. Everything we have done is to benefit the Foundation in hopes that one day we can eradicate this terrible disease that Sicily battles daily and ends too many lives far too soon.

This is why the decision is so difficult.

We believe in producing quality events that are a step above what you normally get at a local race. Creative logos, shirts you actually want to wear, scenic course, festive environment, food trucks, custom bibs, live music and more. We could do less, but it just wouldn’t be the Mill 5k. Life is incredibly busy right now for the Forrester family as well as the Russo family. The time is simply not there for us to do things right.

We will continue to support Sicily with her music, with her incredible fundraising for the Foundation, and most importantly with her personal fight against CF. You will see us share some things this year on this page as we look for creative ways to continue to raise money. It could be a silent auction, live music, or something complete new. We hope you will find ways to personally support Sicily and the CF Foundation.

Thanks to all of our past supporting sponsors. A special thanks to the Rocky Mount Mills for not only their financial support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation - Central/Eastern Carolinas Chapter but for allowing us to take over the Mill on a Saturday morning each spring for the last five years.
